Hand Applique Basics

One-on-One Personal Instruction By Appointment Only Skill Level: Beginner or Experienced (Refresher Course) Applique Basics introduce the student to the fine art of hand sewing and hand applique! Based on Mimi Dietrich’s book Baltimore Basics – Album Quilts from Start to Finish. The student will practice needle-turn applique along with many other hand applique techniques. Completion of a Baltimore Album Sample Book (see shop display) or small wall hanging is possible as a keepsake of all the sewing techniques. New York Beauty

This project will be making the raised points and wedges using the templates in the back of book. A mixture of batik fabrics works great for this project. Rotating mat works great but not necessary for the template cutting. Try to have your fabric already picked out because the class will take full time slot to make just a few squares. I'll also have a sample of mixing the beauty with drunkards path which uses the same cut-a- round tool. It’s always nice to know there is more than one use for the rulers and tools. One Block Wonder Encore

Advanced Basic Beginner Quilting

This class is the next step after taking our Basic Beginner's Class. The goal of this six-week program is to build piecing and cutting skills, and to introduce new techniques. Students will learn: Flying geese, quarter-square triangles, square in a square, curved piecing, setting blocks on point, sashing, cornerstones, and mitered borders. This class is suitable for anyone comfortable with a rotary cutter and sewing an accurate 1/4 inch seam. There will be homework each week that must be completed before the next class. Fee: $65-plus $9 for handbook (collected at 1st class)

This is a fun and quick project that makes up beautifully in Holiday, Batiks or Asian fabrics. It makes a quick present with enough variety to please everyone on your Christmas list. Flower Bed Quilt

Scrap quilts are the best! Now that you have stacked up a collection of 3 1/2 inch squares from the Scrap Therapy Workshop, it is time to make this quilt. All you need now is some nice white fabric or any neutral of your choice and you are ready to go. the quilt can finish at any size you wish make it smaller than the 72" x 90" size or even larger by adding borders. the pattern is easy and so much fun. Machine Quilting I

Quilting for the Clueless - A Beginner Quilting Class

Have you wanted to try quilting but didn't know where to start or worse, you have felt a bit intimidated by the idea? This is the class for you. During these five sessions you will learn the basics while completing your first quilt. Stitching with Color

Welcome back to the fun of coloring that you remembered in kindergarten. Instead of books you will be using all your artistic abilities and your imagination in creating one of a kind embroidery projects on fabric. This class will show you how to use color in projects that are specifically made for coloring, plus you will learn to use color in quilting and embroidery that will enhance the patterns and add dimension to the pieces. Once you open this box of crayons it will change how you view every pattern you look at. If everyone has their block traced before class we can spend all of the time working on technique.

We will begin a Strip Tube Club which will feature a different Strip Tube pattern each quarter. To get you started, this Strip Tube Club Basics class will teach you how to use the Strip Tube Ruler. Jennifer has done many Judy patterns and has found an instant love for the technique. She can show you all the tips and techniques she has learned to make your project successful. For people who have never done a Judy Niemeyer project before, we recommend you take one of our beginner classes to get started prior to attending this club. due to contractual issues, to work on a pattern that is currently being offered as a class, students must be enrolled in both classes. We are not able to help students work "ahead of the class. All other Judy Niemeyer patterns are welcome.

Monthly Stash Buster Strip Quilt

Desert Sky

If you have always wanted to learn Judy Niemeyer paper piecing, this is a great basic pattern. Bradley and Judy Niemeyer designed the layout for Desert Sky using a collection of bright and dark fat quarters. Template layout sheets were designed and provided with the instructions to speed up the cutting process, allowing you to stack and cut your fat quarters in two groups of nine fabrics. An even amount of yardage is needed for each color. This small wall hanging is definitely one to add to your collection. The skill level ranges from beginner to advanced. Finished size: 48 x 4
