Basics

This class is the next step after taking our Basic Beginner's Class. The goal of this six-week program is to build piecing and cutting skills, and to introduce new techniques. Students will learn: Flying geese, quarter-square triangles, square in a square, curved piecing, setting blocks on point, sashing, cornerstones, and mitered borders. This class is suitable for anyone comfortable with a rotary cutter and sewing an accurate 1/4 inch seam. There will be homework each week that must be completed before the next class. Fee: $65-plus $9 for handbook (collected at 1st class)

Use the French Braid Star ruler to create this table topper. The finished quilt is 42" square; a great project for quilting yourself. Select a focus fabric for the border and coordinating fabrics for the braids. Join us in class for a fun project.

This original patterns influenced by the Modern quilt movement growing throughout the country. This is a great pattern to feature your favorite coordinating Fat Quarters. This pattern works well with directional fabrics and well as any other fabrics. Come join the fun.

If you're a beginner or advanced quilter, this quilt will help you brush up on some of those basic skills. This quilt works with three fabrics Dark, Light and Medium, and is a small enough you can stitch in a ditch and quilt it yourself.

Join us for a fun afternoon of piecing and companionship. This quilt may be made from your stash fabrics or any other fabrics of your choice. This is a wonderful opportunity to use your creative skills in color and design.

Clubs

Have you had problems understanding a pattern? Can't figure out how to use your serger or embroidery machine? Need a little guidance on how to put assemble you latest project. Come to Ask Sue. I will be in the classroom during the day sewing but will help with any challenges and to answer any questions that you have. Come and sew. Look for your new project and don't be afraid to tackle it.

If you love to do handwork and portable projects, won't you consider joining us for an afternoon of Redwork embroidery OR English paper piecing. We ae combining the two clubs into one since everyone is sitting and chatting together anyhow. This is a warm and friendly group who relax while they stitch away and share ideas with each other for a very enjoyable afternoon each month. The projects vary; sometimes the ladies are doing embroidery, other times they are English paper piecing. It just depends on what each individual feels like doing on that particular month. So, just bring along whatever project you are working on or considerstarting something new. We show and share our projects and I distribute a new embroidery pattern monthly. I am available to help with questions and technique issues. Fee: $ 8

Join us in a fun and whimsical walk thru 2016 with Bertie and her friends. Come join us to share ideas and stitch this cute project together. Every month a pattern to stitch Bertie with wool dyed especially for this project will be available. Each month Bertie will have a new look that showcases that month. A kit with all the wool will be available each month for purchase.

Once a month come join other quilters for a relaxing & fun evening working on your current project, playing our RLC game or just visiting with friends. Start something new. continue work on a current project or one that has been passed over and is calling to be finished. Whatever you choose to work on know that you will be among others who enjoy seeing what you have been doing. Bring your own drinks and if you wish to participate in our potluck please bring something to share.

Learn new creative stitches or textural embellishment for your wool applique'. Sue Spargo, Wooly Lady and Wendy Williams are but a few of the talented artists who have taken wool applique' to another level with their creative stitching and have inspired the birth of this club. Every month we will meet to share ideas, keep everyone abreast on new applique' products and tools plus learn a new stitch to enhance your wool applique'. You will not be required to finish a project every month. Your requirement is to get inspired, learn to love new stitching concepts and to share your love of wool applique' with the group

This club is designed for people who have started judy Niemeyer's patterns and need additional help, if you are currently in a class and need more assistance. Jennifer has done many Judy patterns and has found an instant love for the technique. She can show you all the tips and techniques she has learned to make your project successful. For people who have never done a Judy Niemeyer project before, we recommend you take one of our beginner classes to get started prior to attending this club. due to contractual issues, to work on a pattern that is currently being offered as a class, students must be enrolled in both classes. We are not able to help students work "ahead of the class. All other Judy Niemeyer patterns are welcome.

Special Events

If you've never attended a BYOP (Bring Your Own Project) you have missed out on a great time. The day is spent with friends who love quilting as much as you do. We sew, we visit, we Show N Tell, we play a game to win fat quarters, we snack and we have a great time. It isn't a teaching class but there will be enough people around who can answer a question if you have one. It's cold outside so come to a warm place with warm people and enjoy a relaxing day.

Techniques

Join us each month to create "A year in the life of Sunbonnet Sue" quilt or even mini quilts. Each block approximately 22' by 26" and depicts Sunbonnet Sun in a activity appropriate to that month. You can create a complete quilt or 12 mini quilts. Also a half size copy of the pattern will be available if you don't want to work that big. The technique used is applique. You can do it either with blanket stitch, satin stitch or raw edge. I will teach you all three techniques and you can choose what you would like to use. If you have never quilted I will also teach you quilting techniques. You will find that Applique is a fun technique to learn and use.

Here's a modern take on a classic duffle bag. This is a really sharp looking bag which you can make in a masculine style using solids or go girly with some wild florals. Scrap quilts are the best! Now that you have stacked up a collection of 3 1/2 inch squares from the Scrap Therapy Workshop, it is time to make this quilt. All you need now is some nice white fabric or any neutral of you choice and you are ready to go. The quilt can finish at any size you wish. Make it smaller than the 72" x 90" size or even larger by adding borders. The pattern is easy and so much fun. The Scrap Therapy Workshop is a prerequisite to making this quilt

The goal of the technique of the month (TOM) program is to design quilts that incorporate a wide range of Judy’s techniques to familiarize quilters in a manner that will allow them to pick up any of her patterns and successfully complete them after they have completed one of our TOM patterns.

Miss Muffet is not sitting on my tuffet. This is not your standard Miss Muffet's Tuffet because this is a sturdy piece of furniture that will enhance your living room. It features a wooden base and feet that makes it a substantial foot stool. Join me for this All day class. We will focus on making the cover in the first 1/2 of class and then assemble in the second 1/2 so that you will go home with a finished piece of furniture. You can find tuffets for sale from $400-$700 dollars but you can make your own for a fraction of the price. For those that want to order the wood base and feet from Smith's woodworking we will be taking orders up until a week before class. You will need this for class to finish your Tuffet

Scrap Therapy is a two-part program which provides you with a proven system to organize and use fabric scraps. By the end of the class you will feel better about your scrap fabric stash and have a plan to continue organizing scraps at home while preparing for follow-up Scrap Therapy classes. This cutting workshop is a prerequisite to any of the Scrap Therapy quilt project classes.

Need a tote bag for your cutting mat? Portable tool organizer? In this class, you will make a tote bag designed to fit your cutting mat or Sew Steady table. The vinyl organizer is a great accessory to roll up and take to class. Personally, I've given several of them as gifts to non-sewers as they're a great travel bag for cosmetics and jewelry. The book has several options, e-mail the instructor if you'd prefer to substitute one of the other items in the book.

Snippet quilts are decorative fabric pictures. They are usually made as small hanging quilts that are displayed as mosaic-type pictures. A photo, painting or any picture can be used to pattern your snippet quilt after. However, there are also free-form snippet quilts made in abstract designs. It's the perfect project for the person who loves detailed work and has saved all their bits and pieces of fabric scraps.
